Get the big picture of your smart city

The challenges for data management in a city are many and varied. Where is the data? Does it have the necessary quality? Who is allowed to access which data? How can you work with different data-sets across departments?

With the CIVORA data catalogue, you can efficiently solve these challenges. The data catalogue is an online directory that catalogues (meta)data from your city or region and enables you to find and share the data in a user-friendly, legally secure and cross-departmental manner.

1. Connect decentralized data

Why?

In cities, data is often stored decentrally or provided from different data sources. In order to use the potential of data for urban development, data must be catalogued centrally so that it can be used across departments.

How?

The CIVORA data catalogue offers various possibilities for importing or harvesting data. With so-called harvesting, the data is automatically collected by the software in order to make it available in the data catalogue. In addition, data can be entered manually and published via drag and drop using the catalogue. Real-time data from the urban data platform can also be easily integrated.

Result?

The decentralized data can be searched centrally in the CIVORA data catalogue without having to be relocated from their original storage location.

2. Manage data

Why?

With data, you can break down the systemic complexity of cities and thus make confident decisions about action. To do this, different municipal actors must have access to data in order to work together across departments. In addition, legal publication requirements such as the EU Data Act and the High-Value Datasets (HVD) implementing regulation must be taken into account.

How?

In the data catalogue, you can search through all the data, including the metadata, that is available in your region. You can categorise and filter the data as you see fit, view it, share it with others and publish open data and high-value data directly in the data catalogue. You can also check the quality of the metadata, find out who the data owner is and request access to the data.

Result?

SYou have an overview of all the data for your city or region, you can collaborate with other municipalities and organisations across departments and fulfil legal publication requirements.

3. Data governance tool with role and rights system

Why?

Public data is not critical. However, the confidentiality of non-public or restricted data must be maintained. Accordingly, the roles and responsibilities of individual persons in municipal administrations must be mapped in the data catalogue and access granted accordingly.

How?

The CIVORA data catalogue is equipped with a highly granular role and rights system that reflects the formal workflows of your city administration. Access to data is only possible with the appropriate authorization. The authorization can be granted by the person responsible with a single mouse click. The authorization process supports the adherence to the four-eyes principle.

Result?

The implementation of and compliance with your data governance is ensured. This means that decentralized data can be collected, combined, analyzed, visualized and published in a legally compliant manner.
