Today we have a slightly different blog post for you: we would like to invite you as local authorities and municipal companies to the Discovery Challenge from Motius and DKSR! Your municipality is facing major challenges – and you want to know whether and how you can tackle them with digital solutions?

Then get smart and take part in our Discovery Challenge!

Digitalization offers enormous opportunities to shape cities and regions in a way that is sustainable and oriented towards the common good for citizens – through the strategic use of urban data. In a first step towards data-based urban development, DKSR & Motius want to help municipalities and municipal companies to turn abstract challenges into a concrete question – and work together to find an initial concept for the digital solution to your tasks.

What do you get?

As part of the challenge, we will collect current tasks and challenges in your municipality. We will work on up to three of the challenges submitted together with the winners in a digital workshop in March (date to be determined with the participants) and turn them into concrete questions in order to develop initial steps towards a data-based response. At the end of the workshop, you will receive a solution outline including cost estimates and a proposal for concrete action steps. Important: There are no obligations to implement a solution!

What do we need from you?

We are looking for the challenges of your city – whether it is the attractive design of public transport, the rapid notification of citizens in the event of storms or the reduction of CO2 emissions from the town hall. Send us your challenges, formulated in a “How can we… to…” question: How can we design streets better to encourage more citizens to cycle? How can we use existing weather data to notify citizens quickly in the event of flooding? Please send your questions to Tim from DKSR, stating your name, organization and city or municipality: cleffmann@dksr.city. Up to five questions can be submitted per applicant. We look forward to your challenge – and to working together on a data-based solution!

No more applications are possible – the winners have been chosen!
